The International Law Offices of San Diego are dedicated to efficiency and personalized service in the spirit of our motto:
"Law is a profession, not a business."

We practice international business law in the United States, the European Community, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, and throughout the Pacific. We work with associated offices in American Samoa, the Cook Islands, Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Madrid, Seattle, and Los Angeles.

Specific disciplines include international business, including intellectual property, U.S. and European Community trademarks, copyrights, license agreements, healthcare and pharmaceutical law, e-commerce, customs and immigration, law of the sea, ocean resources, specialized admiralty and maritime law, and environmental law.

We represent clients before local, state, federal and foreign governments, departments, agencies and commissions, and legislatures.

The firm was founded in 1989 by Peter H. Flournoy, who served with the U.S. State Department in a variety of international law specialties with assignments which took him around the globe. Ana Patricia Sanchez-McMillon, who recently rejoined the firm after several years of practicing in the European Union, is originally from Madrid. She is a member of the Spanish and California Bar associations and can be "waived in" to practice in Mexico and throughout Latin America. She specializes in intellectual property law (U.S. and European Community trademarks, copyrights, franchises and licensing), Spanish domestic and civil law systems, international, and European Union law.

When in Rome...

Doing business in world markets can be tough. Not only does one face different customs and practices, foreign bureaucrats and a puzzling array of regulations, but one confronts different common law and civil law juridical systems which can give rise to a maze of confusing laws. Both in the United States and elsewhere seemingly domestic transactions are increasingly impacted by bilateral and multilateral treaties. Not only can these be frustrating to the businessman or woman, but -- they can get you into serious trouble.

That's why the International Law Offices of San Diego provides years of experience in the international marketplace to help you through the maze, whether it involves business negotiations, expressing your views to a foreign government or providing representation in a foreign courtroom. While representative clients of the firm include major international corporations, the primary focus of this boutique practice is the small to intermediate sized company venturing into the exciting world of international business.
